Boca Landing chef Matthew Mixon is paying homage to Julia Child with a French-inspired feast sure to transport your tastebuds.

On Thursday, Aug. 25, the Waterstone Resort and Marina restaurant will host a wine-pairing dinner in honor of the culinary icon’s birthday. The menu includes dishes such as confit of duck breast, beef carpaccio, fillet of sole meuniere and, of course, beef bourguignon.

Chef Mixon, who, like Child, honed his cooking chops at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, is excited to celebrate the influence she had on the masses. But he’s also looking forward to showing guests his twist on the dish that “helped put Julia on the map," a restaurant rep said.

Child, who would’ve turned 104 on Aug. 15, is perhaps best known for introducing Americans to French cuisine with her widely acclaimed cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”

The celebration, featuring Jean-Luc Colombo wines from the south of France, is part of the restaurant’s monthly series that features themed dinners, usually accompanied by a beverage pairing.

The Julia Child dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person. For reservations, call 561.226.3022.
