Seeking a job in teaching, writing, publishing or digital media? NSU’s master’s degree in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media can kick start your career with its multi-faceted curriculum that will prepare you for success in both the classroom and the workplace.

Built with students’ long-term success and employability in mind, the program prepares students to teach writing, pursue doctoral studies, and enter careers in publishing, education and digital media. Program graduates go on to become professors, professional writers, editors, lawyers, graphic designers and more.

Envision a career in the classroom? Learn the art of teaching writing with courses that develop expertise researching and teaching composition. Students learn to write in a variety of professional genres while also exploring research and theories of rhetoric.

In addition to teaching composition, students learn how to become professional and technical writers, writing product descriptions, developing company manuals, and designing, editing and producing print and digital materials.

These professional writing skills are complemented by the digital media component of the curriculum, which features video production, editing, social media and graphic design. Students work with field-trained faculty to learn in-demand digital media skills that employers are seeking.

While developing industry-driven skills, students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty conducting original research related to composition, rhetoric and digital media. Students present their research at professional conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Other exciting opportunities include contributing to NSU’s literary magazine, Digressions, working in the newly launched NSU Writing and Communication Center, and serving as a graduate assistant for the Department of Writing and Communication.
