Whether you’re planning the attire for your next European getaway or all-white affair, allow Clarice Dowdle and her daughter, Christina Dowdle, to assist. Their shop, Coton Frais, has opened its doors at The Shops at Boca Center and houses an array of French-inspired blanc resort wear.
While the name of the store gives most of the details away—Coton Frais, French for “fresh cotton”—there are some hidden surprises. But first, let’s talk cotton.
The idea to open a storefront (they also have a location at Jupiter’s Fresh Market Village) stems from the mother-daughter duo’s love of shopping and traveling, especially to France. “We saw amazing trends for resort wear and wanted to incorporate this into our look, so we came up with the name ‘Coton Frais,’” Christina says.
Women looking to dress in crisp fashions can find an assortment of 100-percent cotton private label T-shirts, dresses, blouses, capris and denim. There’s also an array of jewelry, totes, silk scarves, sandals, beauty products and more. For an added touch, the store sells freshly wrapped bunches of lavender from Provence, France, to make any room of your house smell like a piece of the European countryside.
Special to the Boca Raton location is the opportunity for shoppers to buy fabric by the yard, including 100-percent cotton, toile and drapery, in addition to Provencal-printed fabrics, ideal for those interested in creating specialty tablecloths to go with placemats and napkins. The fabric is handmade and shipped from Provence. A one-stop shop, Coton Frais is also a go-to for gift items. Shop home products including bowls, plates, wine coolers, cheese boards and the likes.
“We have products from all over Europe since our brand is ‘French-inspired,’” Christina says. This month, Coton Frais will also introduce PHO Firenze, a new line of trendy boho-chic resort wear from Florence, Italy.
Most important to Clarice and Christina is offering a European experience to each guest. Whether it’s their exclusive offerings of soft linens from Greece, to handmade paintings by Manou who paints lavender fields from Totur, France, there’s something out of the ordinary to stumble upon at each corner of the store.
